What is Radiomics?

The term, “radiomics,” is being used more frequently, but what exactly is it? Radiomics is the use of mathematical algorithms to measure images, yielding information that is often unable to be discerned by humans. Subtle signal patterns and textures, often in three dimensions, can identify disease, injury or risk of future outcomes that escape conventional observation. Similar to how observing colors and patterns on water can identify areas of higher wind pressure, Qmetrics’ radiomic analysis of medical images, combined with AI, can help spot factors that have escaped usual analysis. One way Qmetrics is applying radiomics is with its DiscernAI Breast Cancer Recurrence Signature, which can predict the risk of metastatic breast cancer using just a mammogram.
