March is Brain Injury Awareness Month

QNotes, Vol. 12, Issue 2

Qmetrics joins the Brain Injury Association and other organizations in recognizing March as Brain Injury Awareness Month. Brain Injury Awareness Month is a major event in the public health space. There are more than 5.3 million individuals in the United States who are living with a permanent brain injury-related disability. That’s one in every 60 people. At least 2.8 million Americans sustain traumatic brain injuries in the United States every year. As a result, Brain Injury Awareness Month rallies a large community into raising awareness and advocating for causes they care about.

Qmetrics continues to provide support for Mild Traumatic Brain Injury (mTBI) research and has developed the Post-Concussive Syndrome Index to provide an objective assessment of brain structural abnormalities in mTBI patients. This effectively enables doctors to “see” post-concussive injury in addition to assessing the patient’s symptoms and dysfunction. We hope this information will empower patients to know more about their injuries.
